Russia and Iran stay away from U.S. dollar in bilateral settlements

Russian Ambassador in Iran Levan Jagaryan says “Moscow and Tehran will soon stop using the dollar in trade deals”.

He added that Iran and Russia will try to make payments in local currencies and euro, TASS reports.

“In fact we’ve already stopped using the dollar in bilateral settlements with Iranians. Instead we will use Russian ruble and Iranian rial or, if necessary, euro”, Mr. Jagaryan stated.

Last year the US authorities accused the Iranian Central Bank of transferring money to Russia as payment for oil supplies to Syria.
